OG and Social Cards

Purpose

This page defines governance rules for Open Graph and social preview metadata. Its role is to constrain how pages are represented when shared externally, without implying authority, correctness, or system guarantees.

Representation Rules

Social card titles, descriptions, and images must accurately reflect page scope without amplification or reinterpretation.

Metadata must remain descriptive and must not summarize outcomes, decisions, or system behavior.

Interpretation Boundaries

Social previews are presentation artifacts only.

They must not be interpreted as validation, endorsement, or technical proof.

Disallowed Inferences

Do not infer trustworthiness, compliance, or reliability from social card appearance.

Do not treat preview metadata as evidence of platform state or guarantees.

Boundary Conditions

These rules apply only to metadata used for link previews and sharing contexts.

They do not affect page content, indexing behavior, or system logic.

Non-Guarantees

Social cards do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or authority.

Preview metadata does not represent system validation or endorsement.

Validation Checklist

Does the preview accurately reflect page scope?

Are descriptions free from guarantees or outcome claims?

Is visual emphasis separated from system assertions?

Forbidden Patterns

Using social previews to imply endorsement or trust.

Embedding outcome claims or authority statements in metadata.
